Amazon has discontinued Inspire, its TikTok-like feed featuring photos and videos of products, as reported earlier by TechCrunch. In a statement to The Verge, Amazon spokesperson Maxine Tagay said the company “regularly evaluate[s] various features to better align with what customers tell us matters most, and as part of that, Inspire is no longer available.”

Amazon first launched Inspire in 2022, allowing users on its mobile app to scroll through a feed of products in categories like interior design, skincare, and pets. It also gave users the option to purchase the products shown in the photos and videos. Amazon launched Inspire around the same time TikTok began testing shopping features in the US, which had seen success in China. YouTube also added shopping features to Shorts in 2022.

In 2023, creators called out the company for reportedly offering to pay $25 per Inspire video, which Bloomberg reported was “about a tenth of the going rate” at the time. Amazon also offers several other features shoppers can use to find products, such as Shop by Interest (which similarly lets you scroll through a feed of shoppable videos), as well as AI shopping guides

“Beyond Amazon, we know that customers look for inspiration and product recommendations in social feeds, and we’re innovating to make shopping Amazon products more enjoyable through seamless social media integrations,“ Tagay said.
